Connect VirtualDJ to a SHOUTcast server
Broadcast your VirtualDJ output to a Lusch Audio stream.
Reviewed · Follow the instructions supplied with your own rental.
Before you start
Keep your rental instructions and listening URL ready. Have the broadcaster, audio device and headphones connected before testing. Use your supplied credentials and encoding settings; the glossary explains the fields. VirtualDJ’s manual specifies a Pro Infinity or Pro Monthly licence for broadcasting to a radio server. Check your edition before troubleshooting a missing option.
Steps
- Open VirtualDJ’s broadcast settings and choose Radio Server.
- Choose SHOUTcast for a SHOUTcast rental and use the MP3 format.
- Fill in the server fields using the details supplied with your rental. Add your broadcast information as needed.
- Start broadcasting, play audio, and check the listener stream.
Check it worked
Your broadcaster stays connected, the intended music and microphone reach its meters, and a separate listener hears a clear, balanced stream on the supplied listening URL. Check parcel playback afterwards if you are performing in Second Life.
If it does not work
- No meters: inspect source selection, audio routing and mute controls.
- Meters but silence: compare the encoder status and current listening URL with a separate listener.
- A refused connection or login error: recheck the supplied host, broadcast port, source credentials and connection mode.
- Distortion: reduce gain at the stage that clips, then repeat the listener test.
Notes and references
Good to know: VirtualDJ’s manual states that Radio Server broadcasting requires a Pro Infinity or Pro Monthly licence. Check your edition before troubleshooting a missing option.
