An AutoDJ scheduled playlist does not start

If an AutoDJ playlist does not start or starts late, check its schedule and whether it is waiting for another track or playlist to finish. Record the planned and actual times before changing several settings.

Reviewed · Follow the instructions supplied with your own rental.

Before you start

Have the playlist name, intended date and time, the panel’s current time and a listening test ready. Note whether a live source is connected; on your SHOUTcast v2/Liquidsoap rental, a live source can override AutoDJ.

Check the saved settings

  1. Confirm that the intended playlist is enabled and contains playable tracks.
  2. Verify that it is a Scheduled playlist rather than a general rotation with an activation period.
  3. Check the scheduled date, time and repetition setting. Centova Cast uses the timezone configured on the Stream tab of Configuration Settings.
  4. Check the saved values rather than relying on a note or an unsaved editing window.
  5. Write down the track and playlist currently playing when the scheduled start time arrives.

Understand a delayed start

Centova Cast’s playlist rules do not interrupt an individual playing track to change playlists. A long track or recorded set can therefore delay the next scheduled selection. Another scheduled playlist set to play to completion can also delay one that is due. Inspect the preceding content and its interruptibility settings before treating the stream as broken.

Run a controlled test

Choose a short test playlist and an appropriate time outside your event. Keep the other settings unchanged, listen across the start time, and record when playback actually changes. Check what happens after the test ends. This comparison is more useful than repeatedly resetting the service.

Check it worked

The intended playlist becomes eligible at the correct saved time and plays according to the configured track and playlist rules. Keep the panel timezone, preceding content and actual start noted.

If it still fails

Send TJ Lusch the intended time and timezone, playlist type, enabled state, repetition and interruptibility settings, preceding track duration, any live-source connection and what your helper heard.
