Choose broadcasting software for your Lusch Audio stream

Choose a broadcaster around the audio you already use, then check that it supports your rental’s connection and encoding settings.

Reviewed · Follow the instructions supplied with your own rental.

Start with your sound source

  • Mixing DJ decks: choose software with the deck and broadcast controls you need.
  • Microphone or mixer output: choose an encoder that receives that input.
  • Music and voice from separate applications: plan the capture or mixing path as well as the encoder.
  • Scheduled station playback: consider whether server-side AutoDJ or your existing station software fits the job.

Compare the options

Broadcasting software and the setup it suits
Software When it fits and what to check
Winamp Existing Windows Winamp playback. Use a compatible SHOUTcast Source DSP; check versions and microphone routing.
SAM Broadcaster An existing station or music library workflow. Confirm your edition includes external streaming encoders.
Mixxx DJ mixing with built-in live broadcasting. Available for Windows, macOS and Linux; check your microphone mix.
BUTT Encoding microphone, mixer or routed audio on Windows, macOS or Linux. It does not play music files itself.
VirtualDJ A DJ mixing workflow using its Radio Server option. The vendor manual specifies Pro Infinity or Pro Monthly for radio-server broadcasting.
Audio Hijack Mac application and input-device capture organised into a session with a Broadcast block.
Rocket Broadcaster Windows application audio and microphone capture with a stream connection test. Check your edition’s encoding limits.

Before installing or changing software

Check the vendor’s current operating-system support, licence and encoder features. Start with the application you understand if it meets your needs. A different application will not correct missing rental credentials or an untested audio path.

Make a small test

  1. Choose the matching setup guide above.
  2. Enter the connection details supplied for your rental.
  3. Test music and voice at the broadcaster’s meters.
  4. Ask a separate listener to check the supplied URL, then test the Second Life parcel.
