Get started with your Lusch Audio stream

A quick start for new Second Life customers renting a SHOUTcast stream.

Reviewed · Follow the instructions supplied with your own rental.

Before you start

Choose the rental you need and read its supplied instructions. Have your broadcaster, audio device and a helper who can listen ready. Keep source credentials separate from the listening URL.

Steps

  1. Choose live SHOUTcast or AutoDJ, then the listener capacity and rental period you need.
  2. Order at the Lusch Audio location in Second Life. Use the instructions supplied with your rental.
  3. Keep your connection details somewhere private. If they are missing or unclear, contact TJ Lusch.
  4. Before your event, make a short broadcast and ask someone to check what listeners hear.

Check it worked

Your broadcaster stays connected, the intended music and microphone reach its meters, and a separate listener hears a clear, balanced stream on the supplied listening URL. Check parcel playback afterwards if you are performing in Second Life.

If it does not work

  • No meters: inspect source selection, audio routing and mute controls.
  • Meters but silence: compare the encoder status and current listening URL with a separate listener.
  • A refused connection or login error: recheck the supplied host, broadcast port, source credentials and connection mode.
  • Distortion: reduce gain at the stage that clips, then repeat the listener test.

Notes and references

Good to know: Live monthly plans: 15 listeners L$600, 25 L$1000, 50 L$1500, or 200 L$2000. AutoDJ plans are monthly and stream at 128 kbps.
