AutoDJ keeps repeating the same tracks
Look at the tracks available to the active playlists, their playback order and their relative selection settings. A large uploaded library does not guarantee a large active rotation.
Reviewed · Follow the instructions supplied with your own rental.
Start with a listening log
Write down repeated artist/title combinations and approximate times over a useful listening period. Distinguish the same recording being selected again from two separately uploaded copies of it. Keep the log before changing playlist settings.
Check which tracks can actually play
- Open the intended playlists and count the tracks in them, not just the files uploaded to the account.
- Check which playlists are enabled and eligible during the period you are listening.
- Look for duplicate files or repeated copies of the same recording across those playlists.
- Compare the playlist playback order and any timing restrictions.
- Note whether a scheduled, interval or immediate selection is responsible for the repeated item instead of your general music rotation.
Review order and weighting
Centova Cast supports random/shuffled and sequential playback where applicable. Sequential playback restarts after reaching the end of the playlist. General Rotation playback weight controls how frequently one rotation is selected relative to others; it is not a guarantee that every uploaded track plays once before any repeat.
Improve the test rotation
Use a suitable range of tracks in the intended active playlists. Review whether one small rotation is selected much more often than the others. Make one documented change, then listen long enough to compare the result. Keep a copy of the previous playlist settings so you can undo an unhelpful change.
Check it worked
The observed selection fits your playlist contents, order and intended relative rotation. Keep the before-and-after log. Do not promise a repeat-free interval unless the actual account configuration has been checked and tested.
If the settings do not explain it
Send TJ Lusch the playlist names and types, track counts, order and weight settings where present, listening period and examples of the repetitions. Avoid deleting the whole library to investigate one repeated track.
