Set up SAM Broadcaster with your SHOUTcast stream

Use the SHOUTcast connection information supplied with your Lusch Audio rental to configure SAM Broadcaster.

Reviewed · Follow the instructions supplied with your own rental.

Before you start

Keep your rental instructions and listening URL ready. Have the broadcaster, audio device and headphones connected before testing. Use your supplied credentials and encoding settings; the glossary explains the fields. Confirm that your SAM edition supports external encoders.

Steps

  1. Open Desktop B. In Encoders, use + to add an MP3 (LAME_ENC) encoder.
  2. In Converter, select the encoding settings supplied with your rental.
  3. In Server Details, select the SHOUTcast version for your stream and enter its host, broadcast port, and source password.
  4. For SHOUTcast 2, use the stream ID supplied for your account. Enter your station details, save, and start the encoder.
  5. Play audio and check the listener stream.

Check it worked

Your broadcaster stays connected, the intended music and microphone reach its meters, and a separate listener hears a clear, balanced stream on the supplied listening URL. Check parcel playback afterwards if you are performing in Second Life.

If it does not work

  • No meters: inspect source selection, audio routing and mute controls.
  • Meters but silence: compare the encoder status and current listening URL with a separate listener.
  • A refused connection or login error: recheck the supplied host, broadcast port, source credentials and connection mode.
  • Distortion: reduce gain at the stage that clips, then repeat the listener test.

Notes and references

Good to know: Use your rental settings; do not copy another provider’s example host, port, or stream ID.
