Connect Mixxx to your Lusch Audio SHOUTcast stream

Connect Mixxx using its Live Broadcasting preferences.

Reviewed · Follow the instructions supplied with your own rental.

Before you start

Keep your rental instructions and listening URL ready. Have the broadcaster, audio device and headphones connected before testing. Use your supplied credentials and encoding settings; the glossary explains the fields. Have a track loaded and check that the intended microphone is included in your broadcast mix.

Steps

  1. Open Preferences → Live Broadcasting.
  2. Select the server type for your rental. Enter the supplied host, port, login, and password in their separate fields; the host field should not contain a full http:// URL.
  3. For SHOUTcast, choose MP3 and enter a stream name. Follow the encoding settings supplied with your rental.
  4. Save the settings, then use Options → Enable Live Broadcasting. Play audio and check the listener stream.

Check it worked

Your broadcaster stays connected, the intended music and microphone reach its meters, and a separate listener hears a clear, balanced stream on the supplied listening URL. Check parcel playback afterwards if you are performing in Second Life.

If it does not work

  • No meters: inspect source selection, audio routing and mute controls.
  • Meters but silence: compare the encoder status and current listening URL with a separate listener.
  • A refused connection or login error: recheck the supplied host, broadcast port, source credentials and connection mode.
  • Distortion: reduce gain at the stage that clips, then repeat the listener test.

Notes and references

Good to know: Use the credentials supplied for your rental. Do not substitute the defaults shown in a software example.
