Enable song-title updates in SAM Broadcaster

Check song metadata settings when your SHOUTcast listeners cannot see the current track.

Reviewed · Follow the instructions supplied with your own rental.

Before you start

First confirm that audio is working. Have two tracks with correct artist and title information ready, and choose a listener player that displays metadata.

Steps

  1. Open the encoder’s Server Details settings.
  2. Check Enable title streaming.
  3. Keep the standard caption template unless you need a different format.
  4. Save and check the title shown by the listener stream after changing tracks.

Check it worked

The listener sees the current track information change after a track change and the player’s normal update delay. Audio and title display are separate checks.

If it does not work

  • One player has no title: compare a second player with metadata support.
  • Titles never change: compare the selected encoder, stream and title-update options.
  • Incorrect text: inspect the track tags and caption template.
  • Still missing: send your SAM version, encoder type and the checks completed.

Notes and references

Good to know: If titles remain missing, send your encoder settings directly to TJ Lusch in a private Second Life message.
