Understand listener capacity and a full stream

Confirm the limit for your rental

Use the listener allowance in your current rental instructions or ask TJ Lusch to confirm it. Check a current-listeners view where available. Do not use another plan’s allowance or a historical graph as the live count.

Keep the counts separate

• Current simultaneous listeners: connections tuned in at that time.
• Hourly distinct listeners: different listeners counted across an hour; this can exceed the simultaneous limit.
• People at a venue: an attendance figure that does not prove how many are connected to the stream.

Centova Cast specifically distinguishes its hourly distinct-listener graphs from simultaneous listener limits.

Check a reported full stream

1. Ask the affected listener for the complete player message and time.
2. Confirm they are opening the current supplied listening URL.
3. Compare the current listener count with the rental limit, if your account exposes those figures.
4. Have an existing listener report whether playback is continuing, and note whether new listeners alone are affected.
5. Close unneeded test players or duplicate listening sessions you control, then compare the current count and another normal connection attempt.

If you need more capacity

Contact TJ Lusch before a busy event with your current allowance and expected audience. Confirm which rental option is suitable and when any change takes effect. Do not change encoding or restart the server to create extra listener slots.

If the stream is below its limit

Continue with listener connectivity, buffering or the exact error rather than treating capacity as the confirmed cause. Include the current count and limit in the support request if available.
