Switch between live broadcasting and AutoDJ

On a SHOUTcast v2 stream using Liquidsoap, a live source can override AutoDJ. Check your rental’s stream type and live connection details before the handover.

Check your stream type

Lusch Audio SHOUTcast v2 streams using Liquidsoap allow a live broadcaster to override AutoDJ. Confirm that this is your rental’s setup, then check its live host, port and supplied source or DJ credentials. A control-panel login is not automatically your live-source login.

For other stream setups, follow the supplied handover instructions or ask TJ Lusch. Also confirm how to return to AutoDJ and whether another DJ is already connected.

Before the live show

  1. Make sure an enabled AutoDJ playlist has playable tracks.
  2. Test the listening URL and your live audio mix separately.
  3. Arrange a helper to listen throughout a rehearsal handover.
  4. Keep the confirmed live connection and AutoDJ instructions available privately.

SHOUTcast v2 with Liquidsoap

Use the supplied live-source connection. Connect your live encoder and have the helper confirm that your music and voice have replaced AutoDJ. Keep AutoDJ’s playlist ready; do not stop the whole streaming server to perform the override.

At the end, disconnect the live encoder and check that it stays disconnected. Test and confirm the return to AutoDJ using your rental’s instructions. If the return does not behave as expected, note the live connection and panel status before contacting TJ.

If your rental requires a manual action

Follow the specified AutoDJ stop/start sequence in your rental instructions. Identify the AutoDJ control, rather than the control that stops the whole streaming server. Test the sequence outside an event, and have the helper confirm the change to live audio and the return to AutoDJ. If the controls or order are unclear, ask TJ before using them.

Check both directions

A successful rehearsal covers AutoDJ → live audio and live audio → AutoDJ. Note the actual changeover behaviour and any gap. Reuse those tested settings for the show instead of trying a different connection mode at the last moment.

If the handover fails

  • Record which direction failed, the time and any encoder or panel message.
  • Check whether the live encoder remains connected or immediately reconnects.
  • Check that AutoDJ has an enabled playlist containing tracks.
  • Send TJ Lusch the observations and confirmed workflow; avoid repeated resets or deleting playlists.
