Find and understand your broadcasting connection details
Find the values your broadcaster needs and keep them separate from listener and panel addresses.
Reviewed · Follow the instructions supplied with your own rental.
Before you start
Open the instructions supplied with your rental. If a required value is missing, ask TJ Lusch before entering another provider’s example.
Steps
- Locate the server host and broadcasting port in the instructions for your rental.
- Find the broadcast or source credentials specified for your account. Do not assume they are the same as your control-panel login.
- Use the server type and format specified for your stream. Keep separate host and port fields separate.
- If a field is unclear or the connection fails, send TJ Lusch a screenshot of your connection settings in a private Second Life message so the entered details can be checked.
Check it worked
Each application field matches your instructions, and a short broadcast works on your supplied listening URL.
If it does not work
- No meters: inspect source selection, audio routing and mute controls.
- Meters but silence: compare the encoder status and current listening URL with a separate listener.
- A refused connection or login error: recheck the supplied host, broadcast port, source credentials and connection mode.
- Distortion: reduce gain at the stage that clips, then repeat the listener test.
